    Feb 26, 2024

According to the newspaper accounts, Ella O'Keefe appears to have been a likeable person who spent most of her time traveling from place to place on transportation furnished by local or county authorities. It appears that Ella had a problem. When despondent, she manifested her depression is a peculiar way - she smashed windows. Ella the Window Smasher was well known in North Dakota cities and January 6 in 1896, she was on her way to Moorhead courtesy of the cities of Bismarck and Jamestown....

  • A second chance

    Erik Gjovik|Feb 26, 2024

With a novel three-tiered divisional alignment system comes a whole new way of approaching the postseason. A loss in the regional tournament, provided it's after the quarterfinal round, does not necessarily mean the end of the road if state competition is in the cards. The Carrington girls basketball team got past the opening round of play with a 59-39 victory last Monday night, February 19, over the Hillsboro/Central Valley Burros at the Region 2 Tournament from Mayville State University's Lewy...

  • Cardinal boys get second win, edge Thunder

    Erik Gjovik|Feb 26, 2024

The long slog of Division A competition, featuring a top three in Region 2 taking turns running roughshod over the bottom three, meant that victories have been hard to come by for the Carrington boys this season. So, they met up with an old Class B, Region 3 rival from just down Highway 281, and renewed pleasantries with the M-P-B Thunder. The Cards owned the odd-numbered quarters, but the Thunder "evened" things up with their performances in the second and final periods. And, despite not...
