Richard Lymburn

Richard Lymburn, 72, New Rockford, N.D., formerly of Hurdsfield, N.D., died Monday, January 17, 2022, at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford.

Graveside services will be held later in the spring at the Hansboro Cemetery, Hansboro, N.D.

Richard William Lymburn was born on February 27, 1949, in Devils Lake, N.D., to Hugh and Vivian (Geib) Lymburn. He grew up in Derrick, Edmore and East Grand Forks, graduating from East Grand Forks High School in 1967.

On February 24, 1969, he entered the Army after being drafted and served in Vietnam where he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Air Medal in addition to the Combat Infantryman's Badge. He then served in Germany for several months before being honorably discharged on February 15, 1971.

He began working construction in 1972 and later was a project manager installing irrigation systems for Nebraska Sprinkler. He was also a project manager for JSK Construction in Fargo. He retired in 2009 for health reasons and moved to Hurdsfield. He entered the nursing home in New Rockford in 2017.

Richard's hobbies included reading, listening to music, jigsaw puzzles and expressing his artistic side by painting. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #9068 in Carrington, N.D.

Richard is survived by two sisters, Nancy Boehmer of Carrington, N.D., and Jeanette (Joe) Dosch of Hurdsfield, N.D; and nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Hugh "Dennis", John and an infant brother, Robin.
