What a way to break a losing streak.

A 10-point hole at the end of the first quarter couldn’t stop the Titans from winning their first game in six tries, as they rose up to shock Maple River by one in Cooperstown.

G-M weathered a 24-point game by the Raiders’ Chloe Wetch to improve to 4-7 for the season.

Lauryn Halvorson led the Titans in scoring for the first time this year, finishing with 13 points and seven big tallies in the final quarter. Jenna Larson also contributed 12 in the victory.

Adyson Hannig went 5-for-6 from the line and had nine points for Maple River, who fell to 3-10 with the heartbreaking setback.

Next up for the Titans will be District 5 games in Leal against BCN tonight (January 31) and back home in Glenfield the following evening with league leader E-K-M. On Saturday, G-M ventures out of regional play to face Fargo Oak Grove on the road.

In non-region play, the M-P-B Thunder kept their momentum rolling with a nine-point win against the Raiders in Tower City.

Two-thirds of the Thunder’s offense came from the able hands of Rylen Wick (18 points) and Josh Moser (14). A second-quarter surge gave M-P-B a lead they would never see threatened.

Freshman guard Carter Baasch’s 14 points were tops for the Raiders (1-6 overall record.)
