Thunder girls defeat N-G-S, lose to Kidder

M-P-B got a win over Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter in District 6 action, 54-42, but came up on the short end of a 47-41 score against the Kidder County Wolves.

Ryleigh Martin led the Thunder with 22 points and Lilly Bohl added 12 against N-G-S, who got 15 points apiece from Teagan Erbele and Sophie Ketterling. Isabel Schmidt was one point shy of double digits with nine.

Coach Cory Mack's team got behind the eight-ball early against Kidder County with a 20-4 hole after one quarter, but gradually scrapped back to within six points at the final buzzer. Kennedy Harter provided the biggest share of the Wolves' offense with 27 points, and also went 8-for-8 from the charity stripe. Kidder County, as a whole, was 13-for-16 on the night.

M-P-B's top point scorers were Allison Thomas with 12, while Martin contributed 11.

The Thunder are now 9-4 overall and 2-1 in District 6. They will play a make-up game with Strasburg-Zeeland in Medina on Tuesday, February 1, and hit the road for Carrington Friday night to take on the Cardinals in what should be a competitive contest.
