While the girls’ basketball team for the Cards was playing in the District 5 qualifier, the CHS boys were taking on the Velva Aggies in a makeup game from earlier this season.
The Aggies would mount a fourth-quarter comeback down 42-38 after three, and outscored Carrington by 15 in the fourth quarter to take the win in Velva.
Lucas Hendrickson had another 20-plus point showing in defeat, scoring 24, while Hudson Schmitz added 12 points for the Cards. The two, along with Grady Shipman, were tri-leaders in the rebound department with six.
Three players scored in double figures for Velva (12-5), led by Kyle Sandy’s 16 points. Kaden Chadwick and Ben Schepp finished with 13 and 10 points.

The Titans won a slugfest in Binford over the visiting L/E/M Cardinals of District 8, earning their fifth victory of the season.
Logan Topp, G-M’s senior point guard, led the Titans with 12 points, and was trailed close behind by 11 points from Jaxon Gronneberg.
Langdon/Edmore/Munich, who dropped to 6-12, received a 12-point evening from Rayce Worley, and Markus Kingzett added 10 points and Tucker Welsh nine.
Griggs/Midkota will enter the District 5 Tournament in Jamestown this upcoming Friday as the number six seed, taking on Carrington in first round action beginning at 7:30 p.m.
