M-P-B ends unbeaten in District 6 with wins over Imperials, S-Z

The M-P-B Thunder boys completed their turnaround in District 6 after finishing with seven total wins last season.

Now, the Thunder sit at 14 victories and counting after running the table in league play, following wins of 68-54 over Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter on February 8 and 65-31 at the expense of Strasburg-Zeeland last Tuesday.

The dual threat of guard Josh Moser and forward Rylen Wick teamed up for 43 points in the win over the Imperials, and Gage Magstadt played a key role with 11 of his own.

Napoleon/G-S dropped to 7-9 for the season and 3-2 in District 6 with the loss. Trevor Moos, the Imperials' sophomore forward, had 20 points, and Trenton Erbele (18) and Kayden Sperle (14) led to the trio accounting for 52 of the team's 54-point total.

M-P-B put the final touches on their regular season this past Thursday evening, when they faced Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier. The boxscore from that game, along with the District 6 finale against S-Z, will be published in the February 28 edition of the Independent.

District 6 Tournament action at Napoleon High School is up next starting on Friday, February 25. The Thunder, along with second-seeded Linton-HMB, earned first-round byes to Saturday.
