Miller to challenge Erdmann for mayor

Voters in Foster County will go to the polls on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, in a primary election to select federal, state, county, city and park board representatives.

For cities, the primary is the final stop for mayors, council persons and park board members, while state and county winners in the primary move on to the general election on November 8, 2022.

Carrington Mayor Tom Erdmann will have his seat contested this year, as resident Jeremy Miller will also be on the ballot.

Al Trader is running for an at-large seat, while Chase Pederson is running for Ward I and Troy Roundy is running for Ward II, all four-year terms.

At the Foster County Commission table, incumbents Alan Scanson of District 2 and Scott Beumer of District 4 will be running to keep their seats.

Running for seats on the Carrington Park Board are: Josh Sherman, Randy Hooey, and Tonia Erickson.

The City of Glenfield has two council seats available. Running for those seats are: Aaron Johnson and Holly Utke.

The City of McHenry has two council seats available. Running for those seats are: Montana Hoyt and Zach Gilbertson.

For the Grace City Council, John Cunningham and Loren Larson are vying for a seat at the table.

The County of Foster will have a measure on the ballot this year which, according to state law, once every four years each city must place on its ballot, the question of whether or not the minutes of the governing body shall be published in its official county newspaper. If approved the minutes must be published until disapproved by the voters at a succeeding election.

A “YES” vote means you do want the County of Foster to publish its minutes in the official county newspaper.

A “NO” vote means you do not want the County of Foster to publish its minutes in the official county newspaper.

There are no other city or county measures on the Primary Election ballot.

Becky Hagel will also be running to keep her position as the Carrington Municipal Court Judge.

On the Foster County Courthouse side of the ballot, no names have changed with all incumbents running unopposed: Kara Brinster, State’s Attorney; Recorder, Lynelle Lyman Hoppe; Foster County Sheriff, Justin Johnson; and Treasurer, Dianne Hertel.

Finally, Katie Larson and Cindy Meehan are running for Grace City Park Board.

The polling place for the Primary Election will be held at the Carrington City Library from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
