Midkota speakers earn awards

Kelby Gjovik (left) and Abby Dreher attended the Region 5 Speech Tournament at Barnes County North on April 9. Abby took home second place in Speech to Inform. Kelby placed second in Dramatic Interpretation and third in Humorous Interpretation. Both ladies earned themselves a place at the state competition in all of their respective categories. Kelby also was nominated to the All Region Team and was voted as the Most Valuable Speaker for 2022 by the region coaches.

At the State Class B Speech Tournament on April 23, Kelby received a superior medal in Humorous Interpretation, for receiving a rank of 1 in a preliminary round. She placed 12th overall.
