The Carrington Cardinal softball program finally took the field for their first game as a varsity team Thursday, April 28, when they visited Mayville State University's Jerome Berg Field to take on the May-Port-CG Patriots.
Playing their first game in Region 2, the Cards fell by a score of 21-0, but that result did not dampen the enthusiasm of the girls who took to the turf that day.
This past Tuesday, the Cards made a return trip to Mayville to play Langdon/Edmore/Munich and Grafton. CHS got their first-ever win, 23-20, over L/E/M, but fell to the Spoilers, 19-3. They are currently 1-2 both in Region 2 and overall record.
The Cards will return to action in Larimore on Tuesday, May 10, to face Pembina County North at 1 p.m. and the host Polar Bears at 5 p.m. Both games will be Region 2 varsity contests.
