4-H, open classes Pet Show new to Foster County Fair

Four-legged furry friends will get the chance to strut their stuff along with their owners for the 4-H and open classes Pet Show scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 22 under the Pavilion at the Foster County Fairgrounds.

No matter what makes your pet unique, the Pet Show is the place for owners and animals to showcase their talents.

All four-legged, furry, scaly and feathered pets and the people who love them are invited to perform under the Pavilion for Dog Obedience, Dog Showmanship and the Pet Trick Contests. The event is open to the public and all children and adults can participate, even if they are not a 4-H member. Children under five-years-old can have an adult help them during the pet show.

4-H Club Members will enter this contest through the Fair Entry program they enter their other exhibits with. Open Class participants will enter the day of the show. Check-in starts at 1:00 p.m. and the show will begin at 2:00 p.m. Dog owners are asked to bring current rabies vaccination certificates for their animals and plenty of water for them to drink.

Donna Anderson, NDSU Extension Agent, and Jill Schroeder, Pet Show Chairperson, said that besides being a great time and, hopefully, a favorite new activity for fair visitors, the purpose of the pet show is to provide children and adults a fun way to showcase their pets.

Ribbons and premiums will be awarded in all divisions. Best in Show Open Class rosettes and Grand Champion, Reserve and Honorable mentions will be awarded to winners of the class divisions.

More information for Open Class participants, including rules and class numbers are listed under Division 6 of The Foster County Fair Premium Supplement.

Foster County 4-H Club members should refer to their Foster County 4-H Fair Rules and Schedule booklet for more information as well as the Foster County 4-H Google Drive Contest folder.
