Babysitting clinics held

Another one scheduled for July 13

The Carrington Ambulance hosted two babysitting safety day clinics in June at Carrington Ambulance building.

A total of 46 girls and boys learned that the most important job as a baby-sitter is to keep the children safe. They practiced CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver for children and infants. They also learned basic first aid and how to stop bleeding. The participants made their own first-aid kits to take with them.

The kids received a folder of activities they could do with the children they will be babysitting. They made homemade edible peanut butter playdough for a snack and sandwiches for lunch.

Public health and Jamestown PD came by to talk about vehicle, bike and ATV safety.

Instructors were Erin Devereaux, Amy Andel, Allyssa Lewis and Tova Bergeron.

Another class will be held on July 13. Call the Ambulance Station to register at 652-2374.
