Carrington vet clinic closes

After 23 years in business, Southwood Veterinary Clinic has closed its office in Carrington.

As of June 30, clients are asked to bring their pets and retail business to the Jamestown clinic, located at 833 18th St. SW.

“We will be downsizing from two locations to one due to staffing difficulties and increasing transportation costs,” a post on their website said.

It’s not all bad news, however. Local ranchers will still have access to veterinary care from one of Southwood’s veterinarians. “Dr. Greg Carlson is looking forward to continuing large animal care in Carrington and surrounding areas,” representatives from the clinic said Tuesday.

Carlson is co-owner of the clinic, and is Southwood’s primary equine veterinarian and a mixed animal practitioner. He has been practicing in the area since 1995.
