Runners gearing up for successful fall campaign

With a few returning achievers at the top of their lineup, the Carrington cross country team is poised to make some waves on area golf courses as the leaves turn.

Coach Josh Kerbaugh and Assistant April Berntson have 12 total runners signed up to compete in the Cardinal red.

The Cards' top returner on the girls' team is sophomore Kenadie Pazdernik, who earned All-State honors last season by placing 12th at the State Class B Meet in Jamestown last November.

Senior Baylee Lura is another runner for CHS who brings years of course experience to the team. Lura placed 60th at the state meet in 2021, and 35th at the East Region event in Cooperstown.

Baylee's younger sister, freshman Jaedyn (34th Region, 71st State), is another one of the Cards' faster runners on the girls' side. The team has one more runner with regional and state meet experience, eighth grader Molly Fiebiger (168th, 232nd).

Rounding out the girls' roster is sophomore Kaylin Pate, freshman Nela Mc-Kibben, and seventh grader Macy Fiebiger.

With the graduation of Jacob Rexin from the boys' team, junior Joe Lindberg is the main returning runner. Lindberg placed 51st at the East Region, and 87th at state.

The Cardinal boys have just one other runner with postseason meet experience, eighth grader Ewan Aberle (115th, 174th).

From there, the Cards have senior Trace Hoggarth, a state champion wrestler who will be tasked with providing leadership to the younger runners. The two other boys' team roster members are seventh graders Samuel Garr and Eric Hallwachs.
