Carnival begins Awana's 39th year at Calvary

Calvary Baptist Church will begin her 39th year of Awana ministry in the Carrington area this fall, celebrating with a registration carnival in the Carrington City Park on Wednesday, September 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Burgers and hotdogs, along with popular inflatables and lawn games, will be available.

In case of inclement weather, the carnival will be held at the Carrington Armory.

Awana curriculum features age-appropriate Bible lessons for Cubbies (pre-school), Sparks (kindergarten and early elementary), and Truth & Training (elementary) clubbers. Cubbies develop respect for God, His Son, and His Word as they learn basic truths about God, Jesus, and salvation. Sparks ignites the curiosity of early elementary-age kids to learn about the people and events of the Bible, building a foundation of wisdom for knowing Christ. The T&T (Truth & Training) curriculum teaches kids the truth of God’s Word, trains them to follow Him, and guides them to a deeper understanding of God’s grace and how to practice His grace in real life.

Each club night includes a Large Group Lesson, Small Group handbook time, and Game Time. Awana meets most Wednesday evenings during the school year and follows the Carrington Public School calendar.

Parents and guardians can register kindergarten to 6th grade children online at https://forms.gle/S7rxdu6wHxnBJT917 https://forms.gle/f2p918CMxi98jFHo7 or register in person at the September 7 carnival.

Preschool Cubbies enrollment is limited to ensure that proper attention can be devoted to these youngsters. Because Cubbies is a two-year program, second-year Cubbies are grandfathered in each year. Full-time Awana leaders’ children are admitted automatically, too. If the class enrollment hasn’t reached the maximum size, regular attenders at Calvary can enroll their children.

Next families with older children in Awana can enroll Cubbies if class space remains. A waiting list is maintained for other Calvary and Awana families, and other interested families are welcome to add their names to the wait list each year.

Registration, handbooks and uniforms, and all other expenses are sponsored entirely by Calvary Baptist Church as a gift to the community.

Calvary Baptist also hosts Trek and Youth Group for Junior High and Senior High students, with gatherings at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday nights at the church building.

Calvary Baptist Church is located at 725 Main Street in Carrington. Questions about the Awana program should be directed to Linda Schuster at 701-653-6028.
