Cards fall in four to Thompson on road

Carrington had skill and a bit of luck on their side when they took the first set off the Thompson Tommies, 25-14.

But the Region 2 powerhouse gathered themselves and took the final three games to send the Cards to defeat for the first time this year, 21-25, 20-25 and 8-25.

Even with the loss, Coach Megan Trautman is pleased with how her team has looked at times in the first week.

“We’ve come out with a lot of energy and played some really great volleyball,” said Trautman. “You can’t rush time or experience, and with a little more time I think our girls will fall into a better flow with one another.”

Senior Haley Wolsky led CHS (1-1) with nine kills, and Madison Johnson had five and Emma Hone four. Wolsky, Allison Jarrett and Kacie Rexin all hit double figures in digs as well.

Rexin had 11 assists and the team’s two aces, and the net game was paced by five blocks by Kennedy Wendel.

Thompson’s Summer Hegg had 16 kills and Clara Stevens 10.
