G-M Titans drop to 0-3 with loss to Pirates on grid

The Griggs/Midkota Titans’ losing streak to begin the 2022 season extended to three games with a 47-6 defeat at the hands of Hankinson Friday night, September 2.

Quarter-by-quarter scoring was 13-0 in favor of the Pirates after one, 34-0 at the half, and 41-0 at the end of three.

Hankinson’s offense came largely from two players. Quarterback Cooper Boll accounted for three scores both in the air and on the ground, and Cruz Hernandez had rushing touchdowns of five, 16 and 56 yards. Ben Athey had the other scoring play, a two-yard run.

Griggs/Midkota’s only touchdown came in the fourth quarter, on a Brady Haugen four-yard run.

The Titans, who faced league leader May-Port-CG this past Friday, will play their second 9B Region 2 contest of the season on September 16 when they travel to Enderlin. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at the Eagles’ Hendrickson Field.
