Anthony Weninger

Anthony "Tony" Weninger, age 79, of Carrington, N.D., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at his home.

Tony's visitation was Sunday, Sept. 18, from 1:00-7:00 p.m., followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.

A funeral service was held Monday, September 19 at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington, N.D., with Rev. Ray Hagan officiating. Clara Edwardson was organist. Congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace," and "How Great Thou Art," Recorded music was "Blessed Assurance," by Carrie Underwood. His burial was at the Carrington Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Cody Wenigner, Wyatt Weninger, Duane Lura, Randy Stedman, Jerome Kubal and Kim Schultz.

Honorary bearers were Matt Murnane, Jordan Koll and Tyler McCone.

Anthony James Weninger was born, with his twin, on October 17, 1942, in Minot, N.D., the son of Anton and Helen (Thomas) Weninger. He attended Balfour High School, but did not finish school; due to his commitment to work on the family farm.

He later attended North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton and received an Associate's Degree. He also completed training and became a Cummins Master Technician.

Tony married Arlene Krenz on July 3, 1970, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Drake, N.D. Together they were blessed with three children: Larry, Diane, and Mark.

Tony was employed by Carrington Motor, Inc., since 1966. He loved working with his sons, grandsons and enjoyed all types of mechanic work. He was a member of the Dakota Territories Gun Club and an FFA Alumni.

He enjoyed driving the countryside, collecting toy tractors, attending threshing shows, shooting and reloading, and haying with his boys and grandsons. Tony also loved camping with his kids, deer hunting, varmint hunting, and attending the Annual Tulsa Gun Show.

Tony will be dearly missed by his wife, Arlene; children, Larry (Dawn) Weninger, Carrington, N.D., Diane (Matt) Murnane, Winston-Salem, N.C. and Mark (Becky) Weninger, Carrington, N.D .; six grandchildren, Cody, Megan, Morgan, Grace, Wyatt, and Erin; sisters, Mary Liggo, Helen Greer, Evangeline Grinsteiner, Sophia Rathbun, and Susie Roberts and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Anthony is preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Helen Weninger; infant twin; brothers, Andrew Weninger and Joe Weninger and sister, Lydia Schneibel.
