Fessenden-Bowdon FFA attends convention

Eight members of the Fessenden-Bowdon FFA Chapter recently attended the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. The members were gone from October 23 - October 29.

Logan Grover, Donavin Bartz, Austin Brame and Ryan Snively attended many convention functions as well as educational tours. Joshua Crowder, Regan Jones, Addy Neumiller and Delaney Erfle joined the group later in the week as members of the competing Agronomy team as well as Jones being a member of the North Dakota State FFA Officer team and serving as a national delegate from North Dakota.

On route to Indianapolis, the group toured the Falls Park in Sioux Falls, S.D., the AGCO Tractor Production Facility in Jackson, Minn., the World's Largest Truck Stop in Walcott Iowa and the Fair Oaks Dairy and Swine Farms in Fair Oaks, Indiana.

During their convention stay, the group took a tour of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Museum, the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in downtown Indianapolis and also went to the Nightmare on Edgewood, one of the top-rated haunted houses in Indianapolis.

While attending the 95th convention, the members attended the opening convention session which highlighted keynote speaker Tamika Catchings, a professional women's basketball player and founder of the Catch of the Stars Foundation.

Members also attended a student leadership workshop on Knowing Your Worth – Wanting to Make a Difference and Finding Out How. They attended the third convention session where many Career Development Event awards were announced and watched a very motivational retiring address from Central Region FFA Vice President Courtney Zimmerman from Wisconsin.

The members also attended the large career fair and expo and the preliminary and finals round of the National Parliamentary Procedure Leadership Development Event, held at the Hyatt Regency and the Indiana Convention Center. The group saw teams from North Dakota and Oklahoma and then watched the finals with teams from West Virginia, Florida, Louisiana, and Missouri.

The group was chaperoned by their FFA Advisor Lane Moellenkamp.
