Wedes 2022 Conservation Achievement Award winners

Each year, North Dakota Soil conservation districts recognize local producers for their conservation efforts at the Annual Meeting and State Convention of the North Dakota Association of Soil Conservation Districts.

Winners are chosen based on the exemplary conservation practices implemented on their land.

Wede Farms was selected to receive this year's award for Foster County.

Jeff and Desiree Wede farm with Jeff's parents, Steve and Sharon. Together, they raise wheat, barley, corn, soybeans, and dry beans.

Concerns about wind erosion led to a switch to conservation practices including no-till, cover crops, nutrient management, precision pesticide application, and tree plantings.

Jeff believes these practices have made a visible difference when the wind blows and he can see far less dirt coming off of their fields. He believes their most important change in adopting conservation practices was going to no-till, and says cover crops are also proving to be highly beneficial.

Congratulations to Wede Farms for being the Foster County Conservation Achievement Award recipients for 2022.
