Al Larson Invitational this weekend at CHS

The Al Larson Carrington Invitational boys and girls wrestling tournament will be held Friday, December 9 (duals) and Saturday, December 10 (individual brackets), at Carrington High School.

Action will start on Friday at 4 p.m. with Carrington taking on Pembina County North on the south mat at the East Gym, and New Salem-Almont facing Napoleon on the north mat.

In the West Gym, Minot faces Bishop Ryan on the south mat, and the north mat features Bismarck Legacy taking on South Border in a girls’ dual at the same starting time.

Additional duals and start times Friday night are as follows:

East Gym - South

5 p.m.: Carrington vs. New Salem-Almont

6 p.m.: Carrington vs. Bishop Ryan

7 p.m.: Carrington vs. Minot

East Gym - North

5 p.m.: Bishop Ryan vs. Napoleon

6 p.m.: Minot vs. New Salem-Almont

7 p.m.: New Salem-Almont vs. Pembina Co. North

West Gym - South

5 p.m.: Pembina Co. North vs. Minot

6 p.m.: Pembina Co. North vs. Napoleon

West Gym - North

5 p.m.: Legacy girls vs. Carrington girls

6 p.m.: South Border girls vs. Carrington girls

7 p.m.: Legacy girls vs. Dickinson girls

On Saturday, the individual brackets for the 14 boys and girls weight classes begin with the first round of wrestling at 10 a.m.

A total of 14 teams are expected for the boys’ tournament, including all the dual teams from Friday plus HWC, the Bismarck JV, May-Port-CG, Larimore, Lisbon, Grafton, Beulah/Hazen and Velva.

Minus Bismarck Legacy, CHS, South Border’s and Dickinson’s girls are slated to be joined by Rugby, Pembina County North, Lisbon, New Salem-Almont, Napoleon, HWC, Velva, Northwood, May-Port-CG, and a combined team of Fargo athletes in their portion of the tournament.

The top six placers in each bracket will be recognized, with the top three receiving awards. The champion and runner-up teams will receive trophies at the end of the meet.

Also on Saturday, the Al Larson junior high tournament will also be held at CHS starting at 10 a.m. Matches will be conducted in a round robin format.
