Fessenden-Bowdon FFA at District Leadership Conference

Fourteen members of the Fessenden-Bowdon FFA Chapter traveled to Rugby recently to participate in the District 3 FFA Leadership Conference. The conference was held on Monday, December 5, at the Rugby High School. When all of the events were tabulated, the chapter earned a third place finish for their efforts.

The top highlights of the day were the qualifications for the State Leadership Development Events (LDE) of the Fessenden Bowdon FFA Advanced quiz team and the Demonstration Event.

Fessenden-Bowdon once again fielded a hard-working team in the parliamentary procedure event and claimed a gold team award. Earning gold officer awards were President Logan Grover, Vice President Delaney Erfle, Secretary Rylee Jones, Reporter Donavin Bartz and Sentinel Kendra Hoff. Ryan Snively earned a silver treasurer award in a tough treasurers competition.

The FFA quiz team finished second in the event and had three silver members. Those earning silver were Delaney Erfle, Ryan Snively and Donavin Bartz. Gavin Mason and Austin Brame earned bronze individual awards. Erfle was the team's high finisher as she finished in 6th place overall.

Carter Laber was the chapter's freshman contestant in the FFA Creed and delivered an outstanding presentation finishing in third place overall and earning a gold award. Logan Grover participated in the employment skills event and earned a silver award.

Rylee Jones' demonstration on Stop the Bleed, finished second overall and earned a gold award and Logan Grover's extemporaneous speech finished third and also earned a gold award.

A total of five beginning FFA members (Greenhands) participated in the greenhand quiz. Slade Dinius-Stevens led this group with a score of 46/50 which was also the co-high individual in the event. Hanna Widicker was also a gold award winner. Klayton Volk and Rachel Neumiller earned silver awards while Mercedes Bender was a bronze award winner.

The Fessenden-Bowdon FFA Chapter would like to thank Jeff Johnson, Warren Strand and Kent Dennis and for their help in preparing and judging some of the leadership development events before and during the competition.
