M-P-B rolled to a 47-0 score at the half, and the junior varsity got the remainder of the action in a 53-point win over Barnes County North.

Junior Allison Thomas led the Thunder (7-6) with 14 points, and delivered on four three-pointers in the runaway victory. Brynn Sorenson came off the bench to score 10 for M-P-B, and three others, Alaina Bosche, Samantha Reister and Isabel Schmidt, each had six points.

Jayden Samek was the top scorer for BCN (0-11) with seven.

Junior guard McKenna McIllone’s long-range accuracy was true for the visiting Grovers, as she connected on six three-pointers on her way to 22 points in the Region 1 squad’s win over the G-M Titans in Glenfield.

The Titans dropped to 0-13 with the defeat, and joint scoring leaders were Olivia Larson and Kennedy Reidman, each scoring six.

Oak Grove (8-5) also had a strong supporting evening by Hailey Neumann with 10 points.

She may stand just 5’1”, but eighth grader Peyton Benson stood tall above all else for Larimore in their 11-point win over the Titans.

The Polar Bears’ guard had 10 points and a pair of three-pointers to lead all scorers. Another eighth grader, Allison Larson, had seven points for Larimore to boost their overall mark to 3-10.

Lauryn Halvorson led the Titans, still looking for their first win of the season, with six points.

G-M plays Barnes County North tonight (January 30) in a District 5 game for the right to get out of the loss column, and returns to league play tomorrow at E-K-M in Kulm. On Thursday, February 2, the Titans hit the road to play Hatton-Northwood in Hatton.

Maple River 39

The Thunder’s dynamic tandem of Josh Moser and Rylen Wick scored 16 of the team’s 18 points in the third quarter, and gave M-P-B valuable breathing room to eventually take a 12-point win over the visiting Raiders.

Moser would finish with 20 in the game, while Wick had 18 more for the Thunder to help them improve to 8-2 for the season.

Maple River dropped to 2-8 with the loss, and were paced in the books by Wyatt Sylling’s 11 points. Carter Baasch added nine and Clay Hovelson and Caleb Kocka seven apiece.

Next up for M-P-B are District 6 games in Medina Tuesday night against Kidder County and Thursday at Ashley versus South Border, and the team travels to Wilton Friday to take on Wilton-Wing in a nonregion matchup.
