Boys drop to #4 Sargent Co.; get key district win over Oakes

There was almost too much star power in the Carrington East Gym Friday, February 3.

The East Region girls' wrestling tournament concluded just in time for the fourth-ranked Sargent County Bulldogs boys' basketball team to invade the larger gymnasium to take on the Cards.

And the undefeated Bulldogs remained that way, riding a 13-point advantage after the end of the first quarter to leave town with a 58-42 victory over CHS.

Carter Hosford led Sargent Co. (15-0) with 16 points, and Luke Martinson contributed 15 in the victory. Gaven Christianson had 10 points for the 'Dogs.

For Carrington, Hudson Schmitz was the only player in double digits with 10 points.

A more-important game for the Cards awaited four nights later in Oakes Tuesday, February 7, and the visitors earned a 60-44 win over the Tornadoes to improve to 4-1 in District 5 and 10-7 overall. OHS' mark fell to 1-4 in league and 4-11 for the season.

Statistics from the Oakes game were not available at press time.
