American Legion Auxiliary delivered 'comfort bears'

The American Legion Auxiliary in Carrington provided "comfort bears" to ill/hospitalized children at St. Alexius Hospital.

As part of the American Legion Children and Youth Program, they connected with veteran Don Weible of Wilton, North Dakota, whose goal is to provide "comfort bears" to all communities in North Dakota which have hospitals.

Thanks to this expanded program from previous years, where only a limited number of hospitals received the bears, every child who now enters a hospital in North Dakota can receive a teddy bear to help comfort them.

On Monday, March 6, 2023, Bernice Stoval and Judy Keller, local auxiliary members, delivered the first batch of bears to nurses at St. Alexius. RN's Kristy Konschak and Hannah Brandner were very happy to receive them and mentioned prior instances at the hospital where children were comforted by having a cuddly teddy bear with them.

Thanks to the North Dakota American Legion and its auxiliaries, these comfort bears may help provide a better experience for children when they are hospitalized.
