Anderson's play vaults TBC Lions to NIAC title

Trinity Bible College women's basketball player Brenna Anderson's role on the court for the Lions has blossomed into being one of the team's go-to-players with the recent conclusion of her sophomore season.

The 5'3" guard helped lead TBC to three straight wins and the tournament championship of the Northern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (NIAC), held February 17-19 at Free Lutheran Bible College in Plymouth, Minn.

Anderson averaged 17.2 points per game this past season, shooting 42.6 percent from the field (196-for-460), and was a 31.2 percent three-point shooter with 54 makes. At the foul line, she shot 71.9 percent.

She also averaged 5.6 rebounds, and finished with 103 assists and 57 steals, and was named an All-Conference selection in the NIAC.

In the title contest, Anderson scored a team-high 21 points in a 70-42 win over Canadian Mennonite University of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Lions advanced to the championship with wins of 65-50 over Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish of New Town in the quarterfinal round, and 87-47 over Providence-Manitoba in the semifinal.

The victory over CMU capped a 15-0 conference season for TBC, and they advanced to the North Region championship. However, their dreams of advancing to the national tournament were dashed with a 76-66 loss to 10th-ranked Crown College of St. Bonifacius, Minn. on Friday, March 3. For the year, the Lions concluded with a 23-7 record.

Brenna is the daughter of Mark and Roxane Anderson of Sutton, and is in her junior year of school majoring in Exercise Science. She graduated from Midkota High School in 2020.

TBC is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), and is located in Ellendale. It is affiliated with Assemblies of God USA.
