Independent e-mail account hacked

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Recently, the Independent’s e-mail address was hacked. The hacker(s) sent e-mails purportedly from our address, with “Allen V. Stock” as the sender, and features a request that appears to be from one of our employees in the body of the message “asking for a favor,” or a request to purchase Google Play cards and send them to our address.

DELETE THIS E-MAIL IF YOU RECEIVE IT.

Since this has happened, we have gotten numerous phone calls and e-mails notifying us of this hack. We have taken steps with our service provider to increase our password security, so a breach of this nature does not happen again.
