Slow snow melt nixes sports week

Longtime CHS track and field Coach Greg Hoeckle clears a bit of snow from the track surface Tuesday afternoon, April 11, at Stadium '22. The complex will not be ready for the scheduled first home meet of the season, the Kiwanis/Lions meet, which was to be held this Tuesday.
Temperatures outside are climbing into the 40's and 50's and heralding the late arrival of spring in North Dakota, but snow on much of the state's athletic fields are still hanging on for dear life.
In Carrington, the complications of that snow, still over a foot-and-a-half high in spots, have led to the postponement of the start of three sports seasons.
