Five members of the Carrington FFA Chapter competed in the District Agricultural Mechanics contest held in Edgeley on Thursday, May 18.
In the Basic Agricultural Mechanics division, Jacob Hinrichs placed second and earned a gold award. In the basic division, participants take a written test, complete a bill of materials, identify tools and build a small wood project.
In the Intermediate Agricultural Mechanics division, Gabe Ricter placed second and earned a gold award. In the intermediate division, participants take a written test, complete a plywood layout plan, complete a basic weld and answer questions related to a variety of power tools.
In the Advanced Agricultural Mechanics division, Bryan Harris placed first, Joe Lindberg placed second and Wyatt Neuman placed third. In the advanced division, participants take a written test, identify small engine parts, identify concrete tools, complete a MIG weld and complete concrete calculations.
