Dorothy Kracht

Dorothy Kracht, 87, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at her home with her family at her side.

Dorothy's visitation was on Friday, September 8 from 1:00 - 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 6:45 p.m., followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., all at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, N.D.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Carrington, N.D., with Fr. Terry Dodge officiating. Her burial was at the Carrington Cemetery. Music was by the Sacred Heart Choir and Marlene Boyer was pianist.

Pallbearers were Lisa Robards, Jenny VandeHoven, Sara Hinrichs, Justin Paulson, Deanna Anderson and Austin Kracht.

Honorary pallbearers were all of Dorothy's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Lee Miemietz was born on July 2, 1936, to Frank and Esther (Hust) Miemietz in Jamestown, N.D. She attended school at St. John's Academy in Jamestown, N.D.

On September 12, 1953, Dorothy was united in marriage to Kenneth Kracht at St. James Basilica church in Jamestown.

They moved from Jamestown to Valley City, N.D.; then in May of 1961, Kenneth and Dorothy moved to Carrington, where they raised their family. Dorothy worked at Valley City Hospital, Jack & Jill, Supervalu, and Nicolson Carr.

Dorothy and her husband Ken purchased Kracht Implement in 1994. She worked in the business as the detail-oriented accountant until her passing.

She was an avid card player at the casino and enjoyed playing pinochle. Dorothy was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society.

She is survived by her children, Mark (Sharon) Kracht, Amarillo, Texas, Dale Kracht, Carrington, Debra (Mike) VandeHoven, Carrington and Mary Jo (Eric) Paulson, Tehachapi, Calif.; her four-legged companion, Maggie; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Michelle (Rob) Rockey; brother, Duane (Carolyn) Miemietz; sisters-in-law, Edith Zerface and Grace Diede and brothers-in-law, Elmer Opatz And Jack Reuther.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; a granddaughter, Jennifer Kracht; her parents and sisters, Joyce Buetow, Luella Croce and Terri Opatz.
