Lions Club's summer projects in Carrington

The Carrington Lions Club had a busy summer with new and old service projects.

New this summer was the Main Street Flower Watering project. The Lions helped the Garden Club with the watering of the large flower pots lining Main Street for the months of June through August.

The Lions also helped with the Great Plains Food Truck in June and August.

The month of July they worked at the Daily Bread Food Pantry and rode in the 4th of July parade.

In August, they helped deliver Meals on Wheels for the Senior Center. They also worked at and co-sponsored the Community Picnic in August.

They participated in The Market at the city park by handing out popcorn and promoting the Lions. The Lions donated to the fireworks for the 4th of July, Youth Golf Camp, and Out of the Darkness Walk for suicide prevention.

After working at the Daily Bread and seeing the need for food donations, the Lions are asking their members to donate nonperishable food items when they attend the monthly meetings for the year. At the steak fry on Sept. 6, they collected 37 pounds of food for the food pantry.

The club has been diligently planning the 40th anniversary celebration of the club. The celebration is October 7 at the Chieftain Conference Center.
