Three-division volleyball to begin in 2025-26 season

At a special meeting of the North Dakota High School Activities Association held via Zoom call on Tuesday, September 5, the Board of Directors unanimously voted to approve a three-division volleyball system, which will largely follow the framework of the basketball plan passed previously by the NDHSAA.

The system will take effect beginning in the 2025-26 academic year. Basketball's three-division system begins this winter.

Similar to the basketball plan, passage of the volleyball plan required a 60 percent threshold of 'yes' votes by NDHSAA schools before proceeding to the board vote.

The three divisions are named Class AA, Class A and Class B. Class AA consists of schools with enrollments of 650 students or higher, with Class A at 162.5-649 and Class B below 162.5.

Carrington will be part of Class A, the middle class, under both the basketball and volleyball systems. HWC, Griggs/Midkota, M-P-B and New Rockford-Sheyenne will remain in Class B.
