From the Past: Mail affected by gasoline shortages

First of this season’s Santa Claus letters, comes from Merle O. Garret, who lists his wants in a letter which says,

“Dear Santa: I am a little boy 6 years old. This is my first year of school and I like my teacher. I would like a farm set for Christmas, also a toy balky mule Crow Shoot set and a pair of cowboy boots. Bring me some candy and nuts too. I am a good boy.”...
