Randy Neumiller
Randy Jay Neumiller, 63, of Jamestown, N.D., passed away November 29, 2023, at Eventide Senior Living Communities with his family by his side.
Randy was born June 12, 1960 in Harvey, N.D., to Lawrence and Alice (Brown) Neumiller. Due to being born with Spina Bifida, he had surgery at seven days old.
The family lived in Bowdon, N.D., and later moved to New Rockford, N.D., where he began his education. In 1969, the family moved to Jamestown, N.D., and he finished his education at the Anne Carlsen Center, graduating in 1979. While in high school, he played wheelchair basketball.
Randy then moved to the Twin Cities in 1980 where he became a resident at Courage Center to gain his independence. After completing that program, he enrolled at Minneapolis Technical Institute where he obtained a certificate in data entry. He continued to live in the Twin Cities and was employed at various businesses.
In 1989, he returned to Jamestown and became a resident at the Gardenette Apartments. When the Dewey Apartments were completed, he was the first resident to move into them. Randy lived there until he entered Hi-Acres Manor, now Eventide, in May 2005, because of health issues. His mother joined him at Eventide in May 2009 and they enjoyed each other's company until September 2020, when she passed away. Randy was very dedicated to looking out for her and read her devotions daily.
While living at Eventide, he volunteered where he could by delivering newspapers, calling Bingo, and stuffing folders and binders. He also volunteered at Jamestown Hospital until COVID hit and it had to be discontinued.
Randy loved his family and enjoyed visits from them, especially his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed fishing, playing Bingo, doing paint by numbers on his tablet, and giving people a hard time.
He is survived by his brother, Daryl (Jeanie) Neumiller; sisters, Kathy Fjeldahl and Joleen (Mike) Scott; 12 nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and nephews, and one great-great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Neumiller and Lawrence (Shirley) Neumiller; sisters, Diana (Gerald) Reichenberger and Phyllis (George) Gillespie; brother-in-law, Kenneth Fjeldahl; great-nephews Jackson and Trey Neumiller as well as several aunts and uncles.
Randy was a loving person who persevered through many struggles in life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank the staff, past and present, at Eventide for the great care, and making Randy part of their family.
Memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 4, 2023, at New Hope Free Lutheran Church, Jamestown, N.D., with Pastor Steve Bernstson officiating. Interment was at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
