Fessenden-Bowdon FFA participate in leadership conference December 4

Sixteen members of the Fessenden-Bowdon FFA Chapter traveled to Rugby recently to participate in the District 3 FFA Leadership Conference. The conference was held on Monday, December 4, at the Rugby High School.

When all of the events were tabulated, the chapter earned a third place finish for their efforts.

The top highlight of the day was the qualification of the Conduct of Meetings Team for the State FFA LDE Day which was held on Tuesday, December 12 at the Bismarck Events Center.

The Conduct of Meetings Event is a relatively new event for eighth and ninth grade FFA members. The members of the team can perform up to 11 parliamentary procedure skills and perform opening and closing FFA ceremonies.

This was the first year ever for a Fessenden-Bowdon team and they finished with a gold award. The team members included Britain Kittleson (President), Lane Risovi (Vice President), Brody Jones (Secretary), Chloe Bartz (Treasurer), Braylee Keller (Reporter), Grace Bruer (Sentinel) and Hanna Widicker (Student Advisor).

Fessenden-Bowdon once again fielded a hard-working team in the parliamentary procedure event and claimed a gold team award. Earning gold officer awards were President Delaney Erfle, Vice President Ryan Snively, Secretary Rylee Jones, Treasurer Donavin Bartz, Reporter Kendra Hoff and Sentinel Hanna Widicker.

The FFA quiz team finished third in the event and earned a gold team award. Those earning gold awards were Ryan Snivley and Delaney Erfle. The silver awards were earned by Rylee Jones and Gavin Mason while Boston Fike earned a bronze award. Snively tied for 6th place out of 42 contestants.

Hanna Widicker was the chapter's freshman contestant in the FFA Creed and delivered an outstanding presentation finishing in third place overall and earning a gold award. Delaney Erfle participated in the employment skills event and earned a silver award.

Rachel Neumiller's demonstration on DNA Extraction, finished third overall and earned a gold award and Gavin Mason's extemporaneous speech earned a silver award.

A total of eight beginning FFA members (Greenhands) participated in the greenhand quiz. Hanna Widicker led this group with a score of 42/50 which earned her the high individual in the event. Hanna's score of 42 was also the high greenhand quiz score in all of the eight district leadership competitions across the state.

Other gold winners in the greenhand quiz were Bella Long (top 5), Grace Bruer and Lane Risovi. Silver award winners included Britain Kittleson, Chloe Bartz and Braylee Keller and Brody Jones earned a silver award.
