Kent Anderson

Kent L. Anderson, 89, died Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at his home in Cooperstown, N.D.

Kent was born June 22, 1934 in Sutton, N.D., on the family farm to Arnold and Evelyn Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Mable Lutheran Church in Sutton. In 1980, Kent and Barb became members of Glenfield Lutheran Church, now Prairie Faith.

He graduated from Sutton High School in 1952 and attended UND from 1952-1953. Shortly after his time at UND, Kent enlisted in the US army and was stationed in Korea. He served from 1953-1955.

On October 8, 1955, Kent married Barbara Veitch at Mabel Lutheran Church in Sutton. They farmed in the Sutton area from 1955-1999. In 2007, they moved from the family farm to Cooperstown, N.D.

Kent was a member of the VFW. He served as the N.D. State Commander from 1986-1987. He was also the National Chief of Staff of the VFW. He served as a county commissioner for several years, as well.

Kent enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time at the lake, and traveling the world with Barb. He loved his family and especially enjoyed watching his boys and grandchildren play sports.

Kent is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Tim (Nancy) Anderson, Sutton, N.D., Bruce (Machell) Anderson, Fargo, N.D., and Mark (Roxane) Anderson, Sutton, N.D.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Arnold and Evelyn, and his brother, Darold.

Visitation was Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, N.D., with a Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m.

Visitation continued Friday, February 2, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Prairie Faith Church, Glenfield, N.D., followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Interment was at the Mable Cemetery, Sutton, N.D., at 1:15 p.m.
