Thunder lose thriller to Wolves

M-P-B has been in the conversation for several District 2 victories this past girls' basketball season, but it hasn't translated to actual tallies in the win column.

Their final league outing of the season was, sadly, no exception, as the visiting Kidder County Wolves withstood a second-half comeback from the Thunder and held on for a two-point win, 45-43, in Medina Monday, January 29.

With the defeat, M-P-B finished their district contests with a 2-6 record, and sit at 4-14 with just their final regular season game tonight (February 5) against NR-S in Pingree.

Five-foot-five senior guard Kalen Kinzell gave her all in scoring 17 points, and Brynn Sorenson, a sophomore, had 10 in the loss.

Kidder County (10-8, 6-2 District 2) got 15 points by sophomore Taylor Zimmerman, while Grace Nicholson put up 11.

M-P-B is in line to be the number seven seed in the nine-team District 2 Tournament, having a tiebreaking head-to-head win over eighth seed Ellendale and avoiding the play-in game. They will be matched up with the number two seed, which was not known at press time.
