Mosaic completed at Trinity Lutheran Church

The halls of Trinity Lutheran Church are now graced with mosaic artwork thanks to the many hands that made it happen.

The mural utilizes tiles, stained glass, mirrors, and other material, known as "tesserae" to depict the creation story. It can be found in the walkway that connects the addition to the church.

The project began in 2019 when Lindsay Ostlie rendered the artwork with the help of Adobe Illustrator on the computer. It was meant to be an art project for the BLAST kids and to bring the church community together. The nearly 25-foot long piece meanders through the creation story and includes the words to a bible verse.

In-kind and monetary donations were given by many to support the project. Leftover tiles and glass were collected and used when possible. Money donations were used to buy things like glue.

Oslie donated a lot of her time and materials to make the mosaic happen. Other people helped in many ways too, such as tracing the design onto the boards and helping with the more detailed parts of the design.

The BLAST kids worked on gluing pieces back in 2020. The project had a lot of momentum going until the COVID-19 epidemic put it on hiatus. It was finally restarted in 2023 and was completed by adult volunteers.

The final phase included gluing, hanging, and grouting. Those who helped should be proud of what they have created. The mosaic is now in place to be admired for years to come.
