Golfers hit tee box for first two meets

The Carrington boys' golf team got their spring walks down the fairways in competition for the first time, competing in Casselton on April 15 and Hillsboro this past Monday, April 22.

The Cards shot 432 as a group, behind meet winner Central Cass's 313. The Squirrels and medalist Jake Thompson (77) made use of their home course advantage to take team honors.

Gabe Ricter was the top shooter for CHS with an 18-hole score of 101. He was followed by Callen Garber (106), Easton Mittleider (112), Andrew Matt (113), Alec Threadgold (114) and Hunter Bachmeier (116).

In Hillsboro, Oak Grove was the top team with 303, and Kindred's Kyle Campbell shot 71 to lead all players. The Cards collectively turned in a combined score of 400.

Ricter improved by 10 strokes over his first meet, shooting 91 to once again lead the Cards in the clubhouse. Garber, along with Wyatt Weninger, shot 99, and the remainder of the team included 105's from Mittleider and Bachmeier and a 110 by Max Ciubotareanu.

Next up for the golfers will be a meet at Village Green Golf Course in Moorhead today (April 29) beginning at 9 a.m., and Cooperstown on Thursday, May 2 at 10 a.m.

The junior varsity team will be in action Friday, May 3, in a meet at the nine-hole Osgood Golf Course in Fargo starting at 10 a.m.
