Deer Camp's back!

Reprise opens Oct. 5 on DPRCA stage

Last fall's sold out hit, "Deer Camp," is back in town by popular demand.

This hilarious take on hunting follows four buddies on their annual boys' trip out to the shack. This time it's a little different, though. After 15 years of coming home with nothing but a hangover from their annual "hunting" excursion, their wives have given them an ultimatum: bag a deer or your deer camp days are over.

Only one teeny, tiny hurdle stands in their way – none of them actually know how to hunt! Do they buy one? Steal one? Could they possibly try to ... shoot one?

Watching this wacky troupe, it seems the only ones safe in the woods are the deer. With song and dance, and a bit of chance, however, their prayers are answered just as they run out of beer.

The same crew is back for the reprise of "Deep Camp." Artistic Director Elliott Schwab plays Digger, the town mortician. Local Jon Johnson brings his hilarity to the show as Moose, the buffoon. Grand Forks native and NDSU grad Drew Relling returns to DPRCA as Doogski, the ring leader and owner of the local hardware store. Gavin Brown of Devils Lake plays Diesel, the mechanic and shell-shocked Vietnam war vet.

"Deer Camp" is written by Gene Jurek with music by Doug Spartz. With adult themes, crude humor and mild language, this is a show to bring your friends and make a night of it.

The run is short, just like deer season. The show opens Friday, Oct. 5 with only seven performances through Oct. 13. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Thursday to Saturday, with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. If you missed your shot last year, or are one of the many who can't wait to see it again, get your tickets now.

With a full bistro menu before the show each day, and wine, beer and concessions available during the show, it's a great opportunity to spend a night out and show your support for the arts in our area.

Reserve tickets and a table at the bistro by calling or texting (701) 399-9634. Please make your dinner selections when you book your table. The bistro menu, seat availability and ticket booking are all available online at http://www.dprca.com.
