  • Game and Fish spring mule deer survey complete

    The North Dakota Game and Fish Department completed its annual spring mule deer survey in May, and results indicate western North Dakota's mule deer population is 13% higher than last year and 34% above the long-term average. Biologists counted 2,923 mule deer in 298.8 square miles during this year's survey. The overall mule deer density in the badlands was 9.8 deer per square mile.     Riders with the Fuller Center for Housing's Bike Adventure, a cross-country tour from Oregon to Maine, finished their 53-mile stage from Harvey to Carrington Thursday afternoon, June 16, and stopped to rest at Trinity Lutheran Church.   • Stadium '76 goes down

    Workers spent time last week dismantling Stadium '76 at the CHS track and football field to make room for a new structure. Built in the summer of 1976 (thus the name), the general contractor then was Jim Bronaugh, assisted by volunteers of the Carrington Quarterback Club.     Nineteen members of the Fessenden-Bowdon FFA Chapter recently participated in the 93rd North Dakota State FFA Convention. The Convention was held on the NDSU campus June 6-9. Highlighting the week's action for the Fessenden-Bowdon FFA was the election of Regan Jones as the State FFA Treasurer.     Jacob Rexin, a 2022 graduate and valedictorian of Carrington High School, is the 2022 recipient of the LeRoy Hart Memorial Scholarship. LeRoy Hart was born and raised in Carrington and was well-known and respected. He was dedicated to his family, committed to being a positive part of our community, and took great pride in farming and ranching.
