Belquist wins four titles, breaks two of Carlson's state marks

Kelsie Belquist of NR-S already has a sizable lead on the competition in the girls' 300-meter hurdles preliminary heat. So much, in fact, that she blazed across the finish line in 42.02 seconds, breaking the long-standing state record of former Carrington standout Whitney (Carlson) Bruins, which was 42.26.

New Rockford-Sheyenne sophomore Kelsie Belquist had Class B track legendary status in her sights Thursday-Saturday, May 26-28.

Belquist won four individual state championships in the 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, 200 and 400-meter dashes at the State Track Meet from the MDU Resources Community Bowl in Bismarck.

In the process, she shattered two Class B records belonging to 19-time state...
