CHS runners host invite, run at Northwood meet

The Carrington cross country program ran in two more meets in this last week's slate, including the Northwood meet and their home invitational last Tuesday afternoon.

Conditions at CrossRoads Golf Club were very warm, with temperatures soaring into the high 80's and low 90's at some points.

Meet winners individually were Austin Dibble of Rugby (17:37.24) for the varsity boys, and Valley City went 1-2 in the varsity girls' race with Reagan Berg (19:41.99) and Greta Goven (20:16.09).

Junior high/junior varsity meet winners were Betsy Huber of Edgeley-Kulm (12:29.1) for the girls, and Jace Duffy of LaMoure/Litchville-Marion (11:18.3) took the boys' junior race.

The top individual finisher for Carrington was Kenadie Pazdernik with an eighth-place showing for the varsity girls in 22:10.08. Baylee Lura took 30th for CHS in 24:11.34, followed by Jaedyn Lura (37th, 25:15.77), Kaylin Pate (38th, 25:31.12), Macy Fiebiger (40th, 25:44.84), and Molly Fiebiger (51st, 28:22.50).

CHS' varsity boys' runners all finished near the middle of the pack. Ewan Aberle took 37th overall in 21:38.46, followed by Joe Lindberg (39th, 21:48.75) and Trace Hoggarth (45th, 21:53.34).

In the JV boys for the Cards, Sam Garr placed 34th in a time of 13:57.3. Eric Hallwachs was 73rd in 17:34.2. CHS did not field a JV girls' runner.

The M-P-B Thunder also had several runners compete in Carrington, with three in the varsity girls' division.

The Thunder's efforts were led by Shawna Nix (42nd, 26:17.96), followed by Ierlyn Sackman (44th, 26:31.28) and Kara Bosche (45th, 26:43.40).

Xander Hayes ran for M-P-B's junior high/JV boys, finishing 69th in 16:51.3, and the JH/JV girls were represented by Ky Schlecht, who took 51st in 16:50.1.

As for the HWC Hornets, they had three total runners, with two varsity boys and one girls' runner.

Andrew Seibel and Matthew Ongstad placed 80th and 81st overall in times of 28:04.46 and 32:03.87.

For the Hornet girls, Danica Wakefield came in 61st place overall, with a time of 35:15.82.

The Cards also competed at the Northwood Invitational on Thursday, August 25. Results from that cross country meet were not available at press time.

Carrington ran in Cooperstown this past Saturday, September 3.

Upcoming meets for the Cards include weekend events on consecutive Saturdays, September 10 and 17, when they travel to Grahams Island west of Devils Lake and Valley City's Bjornson Golf Course.

On Tuesday, September 27, Carrington and other area schools will compete in Harvey at the Hornets' invitational meet at Harvey Country Club.
