Library hosts Scan Day

Important parts of the history of our area and all of North Dakota are possibly tucked away in boxes in your basement! In our collection of keepsakes, are valuable documents and photos that can be captured and shared with family, our community and our state.

Carrington City Library is hosting a ScanDay in conjunction with the North Dakota State Library to help capture some of these important artifacts.

ScanDay will be Thursday, September 29 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the City Library. Participants can bring 10-15 items that will be preserved digitally and displayed online on Digital Horizons and will receive a flash drive copy. Items of all sizes and shapes are encouraged, but it is preferred that items have a North Dakota Connection.

Items may include photographs, letters, certificates, journals, artwork, artifacts, memorabilia, scrapbooks, etc. Staff from the State Library will work with participants to digitize and record the descriptive information of each item.

Participants must pre-register a 30-minute time slot. Local museums, historical societies, churches and individuals are all welcome to participate.

Call the library at 652-3921 or e-mail [email protected] to reserve your spot today.
