HWC junior high track travels to Hazen meet

The HWC junior high track and field teams traveled to Hazen on Monday, April 24, for the Hazen Junior High Meet.

The day was a huge success, as the seventh grade girls finished third, the eighth grade boys fourth and the seventh grade boys fourth.

Earning first place finishes for HWC were Addyson Faul in the seventh grade 100 and 200-meter hurdles, as well as the triple jump. Faul was also runner-up in the 200 dash.

Dylan Heitman was the winner in the seventh grade 100-meter dash, as was Matthew Ongstad in eighth grade pole vault and Westin Opdahl in the seventh grade pole vault. Heitman, along with Christian Mertz in the eighth grade and Faul in the seventh grade girls, were all four event placewinners. Andrew Williams and Emersyn Wolfe placed in three events each.

Earning personal records (PRs) in their events included Kenlyne Laske (200 dash), Kinley Vollmer (100 dash and long jump), Faul (200 dash), Wolfe (400 dash and long jump) and Aubrie Schindler (200 hurdles, long jump).

The boys' PRs included Heitman (400 dash), Opdahl (pole vault, triple jump, long jump), Williams (long jump, 200 hurdles, 110 hurdles and 200 dash), Ongstad (pole vault), Mertz (discus) and Easton Schuh (100 and 200 dashes).
