Qualifier held at CrossRoads

Carrington's boys golf team had two chances to gain state tournament qualifiers, but were unable to do so in either their home meet on Friday, May 19, or at Mapleton three days earlier on May 16.

At the Tuesday event, Carter Larson shot the top score of 90. He was followed down the list by Gabe Ricter (99), Ean Hovdenes (103), Luke Page (104), Wyatt Weninger (113) and McCoy Beckley (116).

The CrossRoads qualifier afforded the Cards a chance to get the automatic qualifying standard of 79 strokes or less on their home course.

There, CHS shot much better as a group, but also couldn't get a golfer from their squad on the State B Tournament roster.

Beckley improved his game in all aspects to shoot 85 to lead the Cards' efforts. Grady Shipman shot 87, trailed closely behind by Larson with an 88, Ricter at 89, and Max Whitman and Page tied with a 94.

At both meets, the Central Cass Squirrels were the team champions. In Mapleton, Northern Cass golfer Aidan Hall was on fire, shooting an impressive 67, while the top shooter at CrossRoads was Central Cass's Jake Thompson with a 73.

Thompson tied with NR-S' Jackson Schumacher for the best score, followed by fellow qualifiers Hall (75), Colin Voightman (CC, 76), Andrew Bilstad (Oak Grove, 76), Hunter Bindas (Kindred, 76), Kyle Campbell (Kindred, 77) and William Olson (Oak Grove, 77).
