Big win for Cards over L-L-M

In danger of losing their first two District 5 matches, Carrington dug deep and got perhaps their most important win so far this fall on the volleyball court.

Two very evenly-match-ed squads met in the Loboes' den in LaMoure, with valuable positioning and future tournament seeding on the line.

And when the dust settled, the Cards prevailed in a five-set marathon over LaMoure/Litchville-Marion, 25-20, 18-25, 25-23, 24-26 and 15-8 last Tuesday night, September 19.

Freshman Harper Kollman is showing her X-factor bonafides early this season, ending the night with a match-high 11 kills for the Cards. Isabel Wendel added seven more, while Madison Johnson and Kaydence VanRay each hit for six.

VanRay and Wendel combined for four stuff blocks to help the Carrington cause.

L-L-M (13-5 overall, 2-1 District 5) took their first loss of the conference season. They were led at the net by Tessa Rasmusson's nine kills, followed by six from Bailie Kelley and five apiece by Izzy Miller and Norah DelaBarre.

Playing in her first match of the year following injury, the Loboes' top returning hitter, Heidi Steffes, finished with four kills in limited action.

Carrington, now 6-4 and 1-1 in District 5, take on the Ellendale Cardinals in a league road match Tuesday night, September 26. They return to the East Gym Thursday evening, September 28, to face non-region opponent Benson County.
