Playing defense

The shots weren't going down for Carrington, but their pressure on the defensive side frustrated the M-P-B Thunder all evening long in the East Gym Thursday night, January 25.

In a cross-Division A versus B matchup, the Cardinals held the Thunder to 11 points in the first half and 10 in the second for a comfortable 50-21 victory.

Junior Edyn Hoornaert posted a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Madison Johnson's stat line was well-rounded with nine points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists.

M-P-B got most of their points inside, as junior post Maddie Gefroh finished with eight points.

Carrington (12-4) was on a mission to solidify their current hold on the number three Region 2 seed, facing unbeaten and top-ranked Thompson this past Thursday on the road, and traveling to Fort Totten one week from tonight, February 12, to take on Four Winds-Minnewaukan.

In between, the Cards took on HWC on February 2, and are in action against #1 Class B team May-Port-CG Tuesday night at home, and travel to Region 1 opponent Lisbon on Thursday.
