Johnson, 4x800 win; boys get trio of second places at NDSU

The Carrington track teams had their second indoor event of the young season, and the Cardinal girls are in prime early spring form.

At the Thundering Herd Classic from the Shelly Ellig Track Complex at NDSU in Fargo last Monday, April 1, the Cards won the girls' portion of the meet with 72 points, edging out the Fergus Falls Otters for the title.

Senior Madison Johnson won the 800-meter run in a time of 2:26.43, and she was also third in the 1,600 with a 5:19.84 clocking.

Kenadie Pazdernik finished second in the 3,200 (12:11.97), and Mercedes Lura's clearance of 9 feet, 6 inches earned her third in the pole vault. Lura would also come across the line in sixth in the 200 in 28.41.

The other double placer individually was Isabel Wendel (fifth in 60 hurdles, sixth in high jump). Sierra Friedt placed fourth in the triple jump with a 31' 0 1/2" combined hop, skip and jump.

CHS' relays helped them bring home the meet crown. The 4x800 team of Kacie Rexin, Marah Johnson, Aniston Hoornaert and Pazdernik took top honors in 10:39.44, and the 4x200 (Friedt, Edyn Hoornaert, Harper Kollman, Lura) and 4x400 (Rexin, Edyn Hoornaert, Kollman, Wendel) were both runners-up.
