Hornet junior high track hosts meet

Harvey-Wells County hosted a junior high invitational meet in Fessenden on Thursday, April 25, with 13 teams participating. Winners of the divisions included Rugby (7th girls), Carrington (8th girls) and Devils Lake (7th and 8th grade boys).

Capturing first place in their events for HWC was Emilee Cazier (7th grade discus) and Westin Opdahl (8th grade pole vault). Other outstanding performances included Layne Allmaras, who finished 7th in the 200 dash, 2nd in the 400 dash and 100 hurdles and 4th in the long jump, and Emersyn Wolfe who finished second in the triple jump and third in the 200 and 400 dashes. Rebekah Schimke also had a nice day by placing in three individual events.

The following junior high participants earned Stingers (personal bests) at the Junior High meet in Fessenden. They include Westin Opdahl (100 dash), Ashton Martin (shot put, discus), Kenley Vollmer (long jump), Ellamae Richter (shot put), Emersyn Wolfe (400 dash), Rebekah Schimke (400 dash, 200 dash, 100 dash), Layne Allmaras (200 dash, 400 dash, 100 hurdles), Samantha Meckle (discus)and Emilee Cazier (discus).

Long Jump: Allmaras (4th), 12' 7 1/2"

Shot Put: Emilee Cazier (5th), 24' 0 1/2"

Discus: Cazier (1st), 58' 9 1/2"

100-Meter Dash: Rebekah Schimke (5th), 15.03

200-Meter Dash: Emersyn Wolfe (3rd), 30.96; Schimke (6th), 31.88

400-Meter Dash: Wolfe (3rd), 1:09.40; Schimke (4th), 1:12.74

Triple Jump: Wolfe (2nd), 27'5"

Shot Put: Ellamae Richter (8th), 24' 1 1/2"
