    Erik Gjovik|May 9, 2022

In the long-awaited return to action for area track teams, the Carrington pole vaulting crew had one of their most lucrative meets that they've ever experienced on the state qualification front. The optimistically-named "Snow Snow Go Away Invite" from Miller Field at Bismarck's Shiloh Christian School Thursday, April 28, yielded three separate Cardinal competitors making the State B roster at the Bismarck Community Bowl later this month. Two of those qualifiers came on the girls' side, as...

  • HWC wins five total events at home JH meet

    Lane Moellenkamp|May 9, 2022

It happened a day earlier than expected in order to beat the rain, and it was the first outdoor meet for many of the 700-plus track and field athletes and 24 teams that showed up in Fessenden on Thursday, April 28, for the HWC Junior High Invite. A wet, snowy spring has put a damper on the junior high season. In reality, there are only a couple of weeks left in the season and many performers were seeing their first outdoor meet of the year. To say the Fessenden facility was in top notch shape would be an understatement, but some hard work got...

  • New beginnings: Softball debuts in Mayville

    Erik Gjovik|May 9, 2022

The Carrington Cardinal softball program finally took the field for their first game as a varsity team Thursday, April 28, when they visited Mayville State University's Jerome Berg Field to take on the May-Port-CG Patriots. Playing their first game in Region 2, the Cards fell by a score of 21-0, but that result did not dampen the enthusiasm of the girls who took to the turf that day. This past Tuesday, the Cards made a return trip to Mayville to play Langdon/Edmore/Munich and Grafton. CHS got...

  • Rustiness shows in three losses

    Erik Gjovik|May 9, 2022

Two scheduled home games for the Carrington baseball team were moved to Wishek Thursday, April 28. In their first competitive action in a span of almost two-and-a-half weeks, the Cards took on South Border in their second meeting of the young season, and played the Kidder County Wolves in game two. That time away from the diamond ended up hurting Carrington's level of crispness and execution, as they dropped a 6-4 decision to the Mustangs and fell, 5-3, to the Wolves. After spotting South...

    May 9, 2022

Midkota/Dakota Prairie/Lakota/Griggs Co. Central got one game in the books, an 8-6 win over SNR on April 4, then had to play the waiting game with the cold and snow for 24 days. Upon their return to the field on Thursday, April 28, defending state champion LaMoure/Litchville-Marion was their welcoming party. The Loboes were in no mood to be housewarming guests, rolling to a 10-0 win over the Mustangs. Midkota then ventured out of Region 3 for their home opener in Tolna against the May-Port-CG Patriots this past Monday, but the bats remained...
